MIWA Technologies developed a modern system for the distribution and sale of unwrapped goods that can save up to 90% of packaging material compared to today’s disposable packaging system. The main objective of MIWA (Minimum Waste) is to eliminate disposable packaging waste throughout the whole supply chain from manufacturer to household. The system works on the principle of reuse, based on reusable shipping capsules and special sales racks, smart technologies and reusable containers. Since its foundation in 2015 by Petr Báča, the company has received several international awards, such as winning the European Social Innovation Competition 2019 by the European Commission, and as the only Czech project it has won the prestigious New Plastics Economy Innovation Prize given by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, a world authority in the field of the circular economy.
